I have some progress with my 3D version for...The Great War. I scratch built the molds to match the trench system. Now it's cast, cast, cast...PAINT! here are a few painted pieces so far. I realize now after these pixs...I have to paint my figures!!! Questions, comments, suggestions appreciated.

FAQ's- I made my own molds, and cast them in hydrostone. They're pretty sturdy for what they are.
A bit of paint, and flocking adds to hexes
The hexes are 2 1/4" flat edge to flat edge
I have a straight, curve, Y, dog leg left and right, plus the town/rubble building hexes so far.

Here's a 3" version. I'm not totally sold on the size, and I may tweak the shape to make it more of a flowing trench system for other gaming options. The 3" hex version is better for Axis and Allies Miniatures.

pretty much completed. I ended up with some straight, curved, "Y", dog leg left and right, plus a hill and building rubble hexes.

Version 1 of a card holder for my Great War game. The idea is a holder for the tokens in the lower area, a command card holder, and movement card location with the discarded cards behind them. I'll try to theme this towards a trench or something like that. For now...this is what I have. Questions, comments, suggestions????

thanks!

Here's the next mold in this series. This will be a duel trench hex with shell creators. if my calculations are correct...The mold is approx. 34 cubic inches. I need a 3/4 deep mold...which should equal 16 oz. of mold mix, or 8 oz. of both A and B. This takes into account about 12% volume lost to the items to be molded, and 1% lost to collateral damage in the mixing vessels. I could also use the T.L.A.R. method (That Looks About Right, and hope for the best!) I placed the items on a piece of floor tile. This is a very cheap way to create what I need. I'll waterproof the seams with wood glue. Once the glue is done, and my wife leaves for work...I can pour the mold! If all goes well...I can have some pieces cast tonight. Questions, comment...suggestions???

here's the progression of the latest mold. I'm pretty happy with the results. My measurements for the mold material was correct as well. I actually filled the mold box with sand to get the estimated liquid needed to fill the mold box.

The newest set of The Great War! Completed with river sections, bunkers, and all of the tiles to match the game. Some of these pieces could be used for FoW and or Axis and Allies minis.
