Hello my name is Carl. I'm just getting back into wargaming after taking a long break with 40k. That game ended up being a money pit and in the end quite a disappointing experience. I'm hoping Flames of War will be a better experience.

I love all the information on this site but what does WWPD stand for? I've looked everywhere including Google and your about page but nowhere is the full name listed... thanks its been bugging me.

Hey, my name is Brad and I am new to Flames of War. Have been involved in miniature wargaming for about a decade and recently began to look for a new game system after reaching a level of dissatisfaction with 40K that was no longer sustainable. As a middle aged family man and US Army Veteran the realism of FoW appeals much more to me than the ever increasing ridiculousness of 40K anyways.

I have "played" in one game, which consisted of a guy giving me a platoon of tanks to run in a multi-player D-Day scenario and telling me what to do. I've began to digest the rules but have a long way to go.

I'm building a US Armoured Company, mid to late war, to begin with but plan on building a US Paratrooper Company, as well as German Tank and Infantry companies.

I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and have a great local game store that supports historical mini wargaming.

Hey everybody,
My name is Charlie Fowler. I am 12, and was born on England , but live in the US. I first started building airfix model airplanes (and still do). I started wargaming about two years ago when I was visiting Scotland, and I watched a Flames of War battle report on youtube. That got me started into flames of war. I now wargame about once or twice a month at my local hobby shop. I also have probably spent a lot on Flames of War for a kid my age :P . I still have a ton of I painted stuff in my hobby area.

Hello everyone. My name is Joe Krone and after working in the gaming industry for over 15 years I decided to take a different career path. Leaving the industry has allowed me to pursue new avenues of the hobby including rules and creative writing. After a long break from assembling or painting any miniatures I have missed my favorite past time and decided to jump back in with both feet.

I love historical wargaming and have collections for several time periods including ACW, AWI, War of 1812, Napoleonics, Ancients, ECW, WWII, and Vietnam.

I am currently attempting to expand my knowledge of making instructional videos and more professional photography. The trick is trying to do all this without breaking the bank. :)

I hope to see some of you on the field of battle as I would like to spend some more time gaming and attending tournaments.

Howdy all,

My name's Greg and I'm a wargame-aholic (hiiiiiii Greg). My addiction started many, many years ago and despite working on it, I find myself coming back for another fix. My current drugs of choice are Flames of War, DUST and Kings of War, but I also dabble in X-Wing, Dreadball and Malifaux. I have been described as a system-*****, which is probably true.....but I just love to game.

Hi, I'm picking up wargaming after about 25 years on the wagon, teenage metal 25mm WRG ancients etc. then discovered gurlz and beer.....

Now starting up again, live in Kent, work in London, UK.

FoW LW Russkies. Been buying far too many miniatures (damn you PSC!!!) and trying to piant, whilst finishing a house extension and parenting two tiny tots, so not much progress there, God I regret choosing Russians, although I will love them when they hit the steppes. Must have about 5k points of stuff now. Hope to get some games going this summer.

Aimining for Tankovy, Guards Heavy Tanky, Razvedki and perhaps Light and Medium SU's Co's too.

Big fan of PSC and love what Red Bear revision and DM have done for Soviets.

Big on modelling and history side - need to focus more on playing! Love WWPD - keep up the good work.

Hey, name's Peter, trying to get back into FoW after a hiatus (though gaming is pretty thin on the ground around me), 30 years old, living outside Dayton, OH.

Early/mid/Late Finns, got about 1750 points (depending on time period) painted at the moment, working on a Sissi platoon, 76mm guns, and anti-tank rifles at the moment.

I'm Thomas, age 25 and brand new to any kind of miniatures gaming. I am putting together a Flames of War Atlantik Wall army for my first, I've got a few models I've been working on but I haven't decided on a final list yet. All of my army building efforts have been put on hold until October though, as I just moved to Grafenwöhr with the Army and my household goods will arrive about that time... That should give me time to settle on a final list lol. Any suggestions? Most interested in Panzer, Gep. Panzergrenadier, or Panzergrenadier kompanies, as I have basis for those.

Also, any players or groups in this area? I can't seem to find anything...

Hello WWPD,

my name is Marco and I am 27 years old.

I have been first introduced to wargaming through WH40K in 1999 and have discovered FoW around 2004/2005. That being said, I haven't played a wargame in about 9 years and have yet to actually play a game of FoW. Over the years, I still purchased miniatures every now and then, simply for the sake of painting them.

But now I really want to get into actually playing FoW. In the spirit of starting fresh I purchased the "Open Fire!" set last week and am currently in the process of building up my first real army. I'll go with the Market Garden theme and chose the British armored squadron supported by US Paras for my first army.

Post subject:  Re: Introduce yourself here!

Hello everyone my name is William and I recently got into Flames of War! Like it seems for most other members here that FoW isn't their first miniature/war-gaming experience. I was into some 40k for awhile, but my real game of choice was the Lord of the Rings miniatures that Games Workshop put out. Unfortunately the popularity wasn't there as much so I have been on the search for a new tabletop game.

About a year ago when attending school in Iowa-I am original from Minnesota by the way-I attended a con hosted by the M.A.G.E group and was then introduced to Flames of War. Being a college student without a car at the time-much less extra money haha-I completely fell in love again with table topping gaming again. Much like Marco in the post above I got the Open Fire box and now looking into taking that "next big step". The biggest part of this now I believe is looking for a local group here in the Twin cities, Minnesota, or even the Midwest. I am glad to have found WWPD, seems like a helpful community!

Hey Folks,

My name is Tom Mullane and I am 31. I teach High School History, including a Military History elective I got to design myself. This will be my 4th year teaching the course, and I've managed to incorporate some Flames of War in the classroom, and run a club afterschool for students interested in gaming of all kinds. One of my students got me into FOW 3 years ago....and despite never having picked up a paintbrush in my life as a kid, I find I have the patience for it now. I love the game, enjoy meeting new people with a similar interest, and like painting and designing terrain.

I have 5 Full British Companies at this point - Armored Cars, Shermans, Cromwells, Churchills, and Infantry, along with nearly every LW support option. I am working on some British Airborne from Market Garden (even though I hear they are cheesy) I bought myself an airbrush and started on my Germans. I have most of a KG Pieper list finished and will post here in the galleries at some point!

I am a full subscriber to the podcast and really enjoy listening the the WWPD guys making fun of each other. Keep up the good work gentlemen. I hope I can run into you down in Virginia at some point!

Hi everyone. My name is Gonzalo, I'm 36 and I come from Barcelona, Spain.

I'm into FOW WW2 but mainly FoaN. I usually play Egyptians against a friend who fields the Israelis. I recently started a blog on the issue, which I hope you find interesting.

I also play Bolt Action, Saga, Firestorm Armada and Hail Caesar, among others, since I'm a gatherer and have (too) many addictions.

I hope to learn from the community and read us in these pages! :)

Name is Carl. At the moment I am painting some Samurai for Ronin and Kings of War as well as getting into infinity and Flames of War. Got into flames of war out of the desire to have something I could paint up quicker and easier than Infinity or Samurai models but also a game that looked fun and is played in a lot of places. Never liked tanks in games in 28mm scale as they were always too big both in terms of storage and space they take up on a gaming board, too expensive, and a nightmare to paint . However at 15mm scale I am falling in love with tanks again like I did as a kid.

At the moment I am Painting up some British, I am a big fan of cromwells.

The community here has been great so far.

Hello, I'm Derek.

I currently live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (there's a Toronto in PEI as well). I'm a creative technologist working in the spaces between technology, art, code, design, start ups, and advertising. Basically I specialise in generalism. I collect Warhammer Fantasy models (don't play it though), play a variety of board games and rpgs, and my current mini games lineup include Saga, Jugula, Cutlass!, and Dead Man's Hand.

Ahoy folks,

I'm Tom, long time lurker but new sign up. I'm from across the pond in good old Blighty... aka England. So yes, I'm British what what pip pip tally ho old chap. I've been wargaming for years, a mix of historical and fantasy, as well as some rpg, board games and computer strategy game stuff. I found WWPD through FoW which is my main ww2 ruleset at the moment and I'm a big fan of the podcast.

I'm also here as I plan to promote a WWII card game that I and a colleague are currently developing and need more play testers for. So I'm hoping I can find some willing people in the WWPD community.

I look forward to chatting whatever with whoever, whenever!

Good day folks! My name is Michael, and I am from Regina, SK, Canada. I started into miniatures a few years ago by collecting a small 40k Tau force, but just lost all motivation with it. I've always been a bit of a history nut, and stumbled upon the shelf of Flames of War miniatures at my FLGS. I've only played one demo game so far, but I quite enjoyed it. I'm putting together British infantry tank forces for early, mid, and late war. Besides FoW, I enjoy science fiction novels and am also a petrol/gear-head.
