Tell us a bit about yourself!

I'm Steven. I'm 28. I'm a miniatures-a-holic.

I started wargaming since I was a young kid, though I didn't know a larger community existed. I made up rules with my plastic army men and waged war across my family's ping-pong table. Then I discovered Warhammer, and that lead me to Flames of War which has been my game of choice for close to a decade now.

I live in Richmond, and try to game as much as possible!

Don't be a dick.

I am Duncan Allen

I am an electrical engineer in Ottawa, Ontario.

I have been wargaming since about 1978 though I didn't seriously get into miniatures until I was about 30. I will play almost anything but I only really collect 15mm post 1900 figures (I have a handful of DBA armies, some 28mm cowboys and and a someday to be finished 28mm Welsh WAB army as well but I am trying to stay focused). I play FOW several times a month and I am starting to play Force on Force a lot as well.

Hi Guys,

I'm Peter Lam, 27 year old film/tv assistant editor from Pasadena, California. I've always been interested in gaming but got hardcore into tabletop gaming during college. I try to go every Friday night to Brookhurst Hobbies to play, but since television season has started back up I probably only get a FoW game in once a month now, spend almost everyday making lists on EasyArmy though. I'm lucky to live relatively close to two amazing stores (The Game Empire in Pasadena and Brookhurst Hobbies in Garden Grove). WWPD keeps my historical gaming withdrawals in check. Looking forward to the community that comes out of the woodwork on this forum and let me know if you're looking for a game in southern california :D.

Hi there,

I'm Gerwyn, A Welsh gamer based in Nottingam, UK.

I was introduced to miniature wargaming through games workshop at a tender age of 11. since that time I've been involved in the miniatures wargame industry from working at GW head office as one of their rules boys and latter, helping to run the Black Library webstore, writing about 1930s air pirates for FASA and Microsoft and setting up several clubs in the UK.

At present I do WW2 Re-enactment (2nd South Staffordshire Air Landing) & Living History (I help with school talks about life in britain during the war).

I'm a huge WW2 aviation fan and am currently putting a LW Hungerian army together from Stalin's Europe which will be my first army for FoW despite playing the game for almost 4 years.

Hi everyone. I'm Lydia - Steven's wife.

I'm a 25 mom to be, nurse, runner, amateur iron chef, and dog enthusiast living in Richmond VA.

I don't wargame much, but I do play quite a few board games. My current fav is Merchants and Marauders because I am undefeated :)

My other WWPD related hobbies include: holding a steady camera for Steven's videos, keeping the hounds at bay during podcast taping and feeding the Richmond locals during games.

Hi, Bob here.

48 married riot control specialist (some people seem to think my job title is 'Teacher')

I live in Tipton, west midlands, UK. If you find Birmingham and Wolverhampton on the map I am in the bit in the middle.

Went to my first wargames club at the age of 14 (1977) and played a mass roman naval game. I still play against a couple of the same people now.

I have way more FoW stuff than is healthy although my favourites are my MW soviets and my Italians.

Added more to the list today. I went to a local model shop to buy some milliput and they had zvesda tanks at £2.50 each so I bought an early war Czech panzer company.

Hi, I'm Kar Meng, 23 and I play tabletop games in secret.

I am a university student in Edinburgh, Scotland and attend a club in town.

Warhammer Fantasy used to be my main game but there was only so much overpowered nonsense I could take. I also have a 40k army but have never used it.

I started FoW last year when a friend at the club demonstrated the game to me. It wasn't overly complicated and was similar enough to 40k for me to pick up easily. Twelve months later, I have two piles of unpainted lead that are meant to resemble combat ready Italian and British companies.

Called out and blocked on facebook.

Hey all!
Chris otherwise known as Darqueling here mostly from the World of Tanks side of the WWPD thing. I am 26, working in Baltimore for a defense contractor doing hush hush fun stuff. I play mostly Flames of War now with Soviets and Germans as my armies, but I still have my Necron 40K army sitting around. Steven and I have a friendly rivalry brooding between us for Flames, just don't listen to him claim I am cheating =)

Anyway, if you all want to check out my Let's Play series on Youtube here is the LINK.

Thanks all and catch everyone around!

I am Brian Huss, long time wargamer but new to FoW. Also enjoy boardgames such as the old Avalon Hill variety. Picked up Panzerblitz at a garage sale in '78 for 50 cents and I've been a wargamer ever since! I also enjoy reading and discussin history.

I'm very glad WWPD exists because listening to them discuss the game encouraged me to take the plunge and that's why I now own an armored Panzergrenedier Company. :)

Make haste to reassure us that you love and support us as we love and support you, for if we find that we have left our bones to bleach in these sands in vain, then beware the fury of the Legions

My name is Mike. I'm a historian (of medicine!) by training and relative new comer to wargaming, getting involved in Flames Of War as my first real miniature wargame in 2003/4-ish. I came from the world of customizable card games (pretty much exclusively Decipher games only, Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings). My uncle got me into Avalon Hill games at a young age, which is where my love of wargaming really got started I suppose!

My first FoW army was a British Motor Company from Desert Rats. From there I've got a little bit of everything. I'm currently working on a pile of Germans, but I've got my eyes on finishing my Armyia Krajowa (Polish Home Army) soon so I can take it to the next LW event!

I also play and love Malifaux and Warmachine. I'm a huge sucker for skirmish-scale games. I have yet to play a Games Workshop game that excites me and doesn't leave me wanting to play something else to scrub the bad memories out of my mind.

I have tremendous respect for Steve and the gang for doing what they are doing for the community! Keep up the good work guys!

Hi, I'm Rob. Coldfire on other forums. I'm 47 and work in an Engineering/Quality Lab. I have a degree in Computer Science like Steve.

I'm relatively new to Flames of War but I have been into gaming for many years: D&D, Star Fleet Battles, Magic and Warhammer 40K. Due to time constraints, I only play FOW now. I do dabble in Fantasy Football each year.

My new blog ( somewhat chronicles my foray into FOW.

My names Arran and im a gameaholic, its been 2 days since my last tabletop game.
I'm a 25 year old Web designer based in Worcester UK.
I started about 10 years ago, collected but seldom played 40k and dabbled in Fantasy, I started to lose interest in the hobby a few years ago until I started working in a local model store (briefly), there I discovered flames of war. Oddly enough I didn't pick it up until a friend saw my 40k collection and wanted to know if there was a WW2 variant, I remembered flames of war.

With a love for anyone who will throw themselves out of a plane towards the enemy, I chose Brit airborne (eventualy going for the glider option). My friend went for German Big Cats.

A week ago I just painted up my first 7th Armoured.

Dirty Jon here! I'm a 39 year old IT project manager with a BA in History! I started playing D&D in 6th grade and counter-based war games a few years later - Afrika Corps, anyone? I have been playing Blood Bowl and Warhammer 40K since the late 80s, though I have focused on other games in recent years... like FoW.

I have a huge interest in the European theatre for WWI and WWII. Top 3 recommended WWI history books:

The Price of Glory: Verdun 1916 - Alistair Horne
The Guns of August - Barbra Tuchmann
Dreadnought - Robert K. Massie

Hello my name is Brent, and I am an avid 38 year old gamer. I have been painting and gaming since grade school. I have just recently got into FoW and my 1st army is late war Russians ( Thanks to WoT). I live in Ottawa and I am lucky to get to play with the guys from Who have helped ease me into this awesome game. I also have to thank WWPD for all their hard work and dedication, you guys are very informative, you have solid content, and you have entertained me greatly!

Hey Hey

Craig Baxter from Anchorage Alaska. I have been gaming since I was like four and love me some FoW.

Also play a lot of other games ACW, CY6, FoG, exc. Never can own too many rules. I had a major break through the other day I told the girl at Joanne Fabrics that the quarterroy I was buying was not for a new pair of pants, but for miniature wargaming, she said cool, I don't think she knew what I was talking.

I play Germans and just started collecting LW Canadian and MW Ghurkas, but also have access to Americans and Soviets. Mostly love me some german pios and captured russian tanks.

I've got my own blog where I post shots of my groups games, my gaming and other things that interest me, like Darth Vadar Battle Rapping Hitler.

Oh and I also love me some WWPD!!! nothing better than listening to WWPD at work on repeat. To me WWPD is like a young basket ball player reading Phil Jacksons books on playing ball, accept the ball requires a "very tinny brush".

Hey all, Marty here from the great white north, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to be precise. I'm a married 26 year old male who works in the Lottery and Gaming industry and have been heavily addicted to minis, painting and model building for about 15 years now.

Got into Flames of War in '05 with a couple buddies in Ottawa, lost it for a few years, but kept my US Armoured force in the closet :)

Hooked up with CA$H and a few guys to make up the crew of Tabletop Tacticians.

Outside of working on my US Late War force i'm currently running Mordheim campaigns for other groups of people and rehabilitating old Warhammer 40k and fantasy models.

A personal thanks to all the guys (and Lydia) at WWPD for the work they have done. They have been a great driving force to keep me interested and motivated in the FoW game.

My name is Miles and I live in Maryland (mostly on the Eastern Shore). I'm a reformed model railroader who got into gaming after my son wanted to try (shudder) Warhammer 40K. I'm a bit of a wargaming butterfly and my collection spans WWII (FOW), WWI Naval, ACW, Napleonics and ancients.

In terms of FOW, I have late war US and Germans forces and am presently working on a British force.

In terms of real world stuff, I'm one of those financial types and I'm married with one son who is sixteen and really into robotics - I coach his robotics team which cuts into modeling time during the season.

Hi everyone!

My name is Chris, I'm a 25 year old creative designer in sunny (it really isn't) Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK.

Been wargaming for around 13 years now, and started playing Flames of War around 18 months ago (like most people I started with games workshop games like 40k and fantasy)

I run a British Paratrooper company as my main force in FoW, but also got a German army i'm building at the moment, which is coming along nicely. After those are finished I think I might give the russians a bash.

I play at a couple of clubs in the North East, the main one being the Northumbrian Adventurers guild, which has been going for over 25 years! its also one of the biggest clubs in the North East, and has a pretty solid FoW following. Check them out here

I'm attempting to keep a semi up to date blog of my progress with all things g33k at

my name is Terry and I live in Chesterfield, England, about 30 mins from the miniatures capital of the world namely Nottingham. I am a lifelong Forest fan, that's football not soccer. I have been roleplaying on and off for years AD&D, Star Wars and Cthulhu mostly (with miniatures) but never thought I would ever actually play wargames. Then it happened,I watched Band of Brothers (bet I'm not the only one out there if you're honest) and instantly bought a 28mm US parachute company and spent months painting them and eventually converted my whole gaming group to 28mm wargaming with Rules of Engagement. It soon became clear that I wanted vehicles, well tanks and the 15mm Flames of War tanks looked pretty cool in the shop and the nightmare was born.

I play the US 2nd Armoured Division around the time Harmon was in charge and in tribute to the Battered Bastards, McAuliffe's 101st paras.

My mates play in turn 30 Corps (about 18000pts worth), an SS Panzer Co and late war Russians. In addition I own half of the following, a massive general German army, a Fallschirmjager army and a small Italian army and finally I have started a mid war Australian North Africa force. Yes it's become a bit of an obsession.

PS I have never played a Games W@#@shop game, okay well maybe one of the old school board games from years back like Bloc Mania but don't like their ethics, morals and the way they do business
