Thanks to Area 51 in Grapevine, TX, for hosting us today.

The Germans are attempting to relieve their surrounded troops while the British attempt to hold fast.

Germans bring a CV Infanteriekompanie company with two full infantry platoons and, with trading in 350 pts for the two CV firestorm rifle platoons, also take 4 A7Vs. The German player was going to take a more balanced list but decided to experiment with a tank-heavy company. Tanks, surprisingly, have been hit-or-miss in prior games but is there synergy with more tanks?

The British have their two Firestorm CV infantry platoons, added to two reduced-size CV rifle platoons, two HMG platoons, a Whippet, two 18 pdrs. and a trench mortar.

We choose to play the Green Fields Beyond mission. Germans win the roll to attack and the roll to move first.

Germans place an infantry platoon around each objective and the four tanks spread out along the front.

British place both 18 pdrs on the RH objective, with two rifle platoons in front. Rest of the platoons form around the other objective.

With the British artillery far back and not wanting to fire and lose GTG status with so many tanks about, the German tanks merely stayed out the 24-inch 18 pdr. range and shot, and shot, at the helpless British platoons. The Whippet was no help, either. The German tanks edged toward the British LH objective, continuing to stay out of artillery range.

Unfortunately, this was not a fun game for either side. This game was a classic case of a rock-paper-scissors mismatch, with the outcome really decided at the list creation phase. And with the handwriting on the wall as to the game's outcome, both players agreed to end the game after turn 3.

6-1 to the Germans. British lost one HMG platoon.
