This battle occurred at the end of the second turn in our campaign. The was a critical battle for the Germans as the German CinC Jokull had ordered his panzer led breakthrough forces to turn about and expand the salient they had made. If they failed in the battle, the German supply lines would be exposed to British attacks when the initiative shifted to the British in the third turn of the campaign.

In this game our group member Charles M, played the attacking German forces.

The Battlefield

Initial deployments

German opening moves.

German assaults are initiated by Flamethrowers in the center.

Defending British HMGs are incinerated by flamethrowers.

A7Vs lead the assault on the German left.

British Infantry repulse an A7V attack.

On the German right, the British eliminate a German infantry platoon.

The British seize the initiative on the German right, advancing gap they opened up.

German A7Vs start to push back the British right and knock the British forces below half strength, but is it too late?

The British Intelligence Officer recommends the British take advantage of weakened Germ units facing the British left and go on the offensive!

The "defending" British actually push forward to seize an objective to win the game!

The was a very bloody and very close fight. The British win came down to a single die roll to pass a company morale check and win by staying in the field and holding he German right objective or by losing through a total collapse of company morale. Fortune though favors the British and the deny the Germans the opportunity to expand their salient.

These are the teams that were destroyed during the battle, far more than are actually left on he table at the battles' end!

The battlefield at game's end. Very "empty!"

After are hard day's fight, the British Intelligence Officer is worn out!

So the British hold on with a 4:3 win in one of the closest and bloodiest Flames of War game I have ever seen!
