Hosted by Texas Toy Soldier, in Addison, TX, Lone Star faced off for control of B2.

Supplemented by a CT Rifle Platoon and CT HMG platoon (exchanged for one HMG pillbox and one HMG nest), the British fielded a CV Rifle Platoon, a reduced-size Rifle Platoon, two Mk. IV male tanks, and a Whippet tank.

Germans fielded two Infanterie Platoon, a Minenwerfer Platoon, and a Stoss Platoon. One flame-thrower and two Granatenwerfer mortars were added to the HQ. To these were added two Firestorm A7V tanks.

Having no artillery, the British had only one Rifle Platoon in the trenches, supplemented by the nest and pillbox. The two objectives were undefended, save for the OIC and 2IC, at the beginning of the game. Germans placed two Infanterie platoons and the Minenwerfer Platoon in the trenches on the British far right. The Stoss platoon was placed deep on the flank near the back table edge. The two A7Vs were placed to try to take out the nest.

Defender (British) has the first turn and successfully rolls for reserves, choosing a Mk IV tank. It's placed in a position to block the advance of the Stoss and threatening the flank of the two A7Vs, pointed in the wrong direction (towards the nest). As the Stoss slowly advance, the tanks trade shots over the next few turns. The Mk IV at one point inflicted one damage on each of the two A7Vs but their engineers are on the ball and quickly repair the damage. In the meantime, the Rifle platoon in the trenches moves back to cover the forward objective and a reserve CT infantry platoon arrives to cover the rear objective in the town. The German platoons on the British right are taking their time getting into the action, not moving some turns (I forgot about them!) Finally, the A7Vs hit home and the Mk IV is destroyed. The advance can continue.

The British player wants to bring on his remaining tanks to flank the A7Vs, which are slowly advancing. His plan is stymied by the advance of the Stoss into part of his reserve arrival zone in the area he wants to use. The remaining Mk IV and then the Whippet arrive behind the infantry. The other Mk IV is destroyed and the Whippet (wisely) hides behind a building.

A certain stasis develops over the next few turns with the A7Vs slowing attriting the CT and reduced-strength CV rifle platoons. The rear German platoons take out the HMG nest but are only now arriving in the main battle area. They are destined to play no substantive role in the game.

Having lost two tank platoons and close to taking platoon morale checks on the CT and reduced-strength CV rifle platoons, the British player decides to make an all-out, do-or-die, attack. First, the Whippet assaults the Stoss in a ruined building. Here's where my poor reporting skills are evident. Engrossed in the action, I forget to take a picture. You'll have to settle for the aftermath. The Whippet successfully bashes into the building but fails to hit in the assault. The Stoss counterattack, and with TA3 and hitting on 2+, easily take out the tank.

Meanwhile, the British rifle platoon on the forward objective pass their tank terror test and in the best British tradition, bravely assault the closer A7V. Bristling with firepower, the two land fortresses handily knock back the assault.

At this point, the British player concedes. 6-1 to the Germans.
