Wolfkrieg Army update: Finished 3 more panzer IVs and 2 ostwinds. All I have left to paint are a few tank escorts and I can go back to finishing up my French.

Finally finished up the last Panzer IV J and all the tank escorts or my Wolfkrieg army. The latest iteration of my army I'm looking at taking won't even have tank escorts, but they look cool and it's an easy way to distinguish between platoons.

10 Panzer IVs total. 4 hulls and 4 turrets have tank escorts mounted on them. This lets me swap turrets to make anywhere from 4 to 8 tanks with escorts using the same models. Neat trick!

Also, the tank escort blister I got had a lot of the "pointing guy" in it so yes, he's on every tank.

While I was at the Seige of August last weekend I picked up a King Tiger. I'm thinking about juggling things around to fit this bad mamma jamma in my Wolfkrieg list.

It's good to be the king.

Is that hair spray method for the paint chipping? Either way it looks great!

It is indeed the hairspray method. When I decided to go for the "fading winter camo" look I did a good bit of research into what would be the easiest way to get the job done. As long as you have an airbrush, the hairspray method is the least work for the biggest payoff, IMHO

For the King Tiger I took a series of pictures showing the process. I may do a little write-up on it in a few days for the forum.

I agree! Loves me some hairspray. And you don't really even need the airbrush to make it work. But it certainly helps. I did a write up on it a few months ago, but it didn't involve an airbrush and it certainly wouldn't hurt to have another opinion go up on it!

Neat article. I really like how that elephant came out. I would have thought applying the paint over the hairspray would make a mess.

Now that Wolfkrieg is over it's back to the painting table after a little break. I just about done with the Early War French. All I really need now is to finish the observers' motorcycle and paint up various tank crew and I'll be done!

Here are the finished 105s. I had a heck of a time finding reference photos for the guns. I see a lot of people paint them with a camo pattern, but I can't find examples of that. I just went for "plain old army green". The one good color photo of a museum piece that I could find had all the spokes on the wheels as just wood. Not sure it's accurate, but it looks kinda neat.

Overall, I'd like the color of the guns a little lighter and the infantry uniforms a little darker. Oh, and the officer in the bottom left is a little too colorful, but that's the French, I suppose...

More French have shown up on my desk, asking to be painted. "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."

This summer I painted a MW German DAK army. I had intended to take this to Historicon, but my plans fell through and I wasn't able to attend.

Panzer VI 1ic and 2ic. All these Panzer IVs are the PCS model. I assembled the 1iC and 2iC with magnitized barrels so I can change them into an f1 or f2.

Tiger. It didn't make it into the final version of my list, but Tigers are cool.
