First of my 5 (or maybe 7...) Desperate Panthers. Panthers all painted in VERY late war camo schemes.

Each is gong to be a "splinter" or "hairline" camo'd panther. For the first, who is the 1iC I used the Piper Panther worked to replicate this:

And ended up with this:

I had to recreate the front and right side, but I think it turned out well.

How do you do your wood? I'm not used to 15mm scale and I haven't figured out a wood color yet.

Oh.....and your tank is quite good. I like the splinter camo and think you did a good job with it.

Hey Chadwick,

For wood I use Vallejo Beige Brown and then do a wash of Citadel Agrax Earthshade then lighten back up with Beige Brown. If I'm feeling exceptionally industrious that day I'll add wood grain or fine highlights with a mix of 1:1 beige brown and stone grey. Darker woodgrain can be done with 1:1 Chocolate Brown and Beige Brown.

However, there a ton of different colors that can be used for wood. At 15mm I find Beige Brown works best because it's light and "poppy". But when I started trying to figure out how to do woods I actually did a paint study of 5 different colors that I think work well. I'll dig around for that paint journal and let you know what I found.

Superb camo painting, Throck! I think that takes the cake as my favorite camo pattern I've seen to date. Very well executed!

Yep Jon! I was looking for a good place to use that scheme and it seemed perfect for JP's.

How did you do the little "star antenna" on your tanks?

This wouldn't happen to be a Wolfkrieg army, would it?

The antenna was done with three bristles from a broom (black plastic). Take one relatively long and crimp the top at a 45 degree angle, super glue another shorter (matching the length of the crimped portion) opposite and then a 3rd at a 45 degree angle to the other two. Then take liquid green stuff to where the 3 pieces join to lock it down as I don't think the super glue will hold up on its own.

Sadly, I won't be making it to wolfkreig. This will be my list for Muster down in Williamsburg VA.

HQ 2x PZ IV/70 with riders
3x Pz IV/70 with riders
3x Hetzer
2x Jagdpanther
3x Wirblewind
3x Panzerwerfer w/extra crew
3x Recce Pak Puma Platoons.

1750, 8 platoons.
