Late to the party, but figured I'd start a thread here too. Beats creating a new random thread with each painting project. Not going to lie - most posts here will be a blog link, but I'll leave some appetizers here as well =)

Over the past week I painted two BFAS Polish starter boxes. Pictures of them and a brief description of each unit on the blog:

YAY! They look awesome! Love the look of your Wallachian cavalry :D

One tip though, the provided banner poles/lances are a tad too long, I trim mine down 1-2cm for when used as a flag pole - and only keep them at full size for the Winged Hussar lances.
Can’t wait to see more!

Yup, and in their current state they are that much harder to transport! But, I'm not sure I want to break them off to shorten them...I'm sure they'll break on their own eventually anyway =P

Expanding my Swedish is next on the BFAS table. Got a box of Reiters and a box of Dragoons sitting here, waiting for more bases (which should arrive this week)

10th motorized, now there is a list that can scare the crap out of every German Panzer list including the Pz38t list :D
Great job on those.

Those T-35's look really good!

Ah, Volunteers :-D
They can best be described as light reconnaissance. They add valuable recon points to your list but are very fragile and difficult to use on the battlefield. The most sensible thing is to give the order "Move" at the start of the game and just use them with that order to grab objectives in scenarios like "Patrol" or "Forage". Remember that units that move in "open order" always march, so their movement rate is 30cm per turn until they get within 20cm of the enemy!

You can also use them as a "throwaway" unit to block ambushes if you place them near terrain if you know your opponent has the ability to deploy any ambush.

Hmmm....interesting uses. I was just planning on them being a sacrificial throwaway unit to charge and maybe do a wound or two =P Your ideas sound much more...tactical.

Funny story (not really): I thought I could take ALL of those volunteers on the Polish skirmish card...so the six and the bottom, then the five, then the four....so I bought A LOT of volunteers. Was kinda sad to find out I could only take the six, but now I have enough to add a volunteer regiment as the divisional level!

You will be happy then to know that you can run a 100% Volunteer skirmish force :D
It's not very good, but you get a shit ton of units dirt cheap :D

So don't worry about it :)

Those are lovely! Awesome variety and character!

We need to play Chain of Command with them - throw some dastardly German SS or something against them!

Also redid the T55 in a different color. This pic is a bit more yellow than it is in person, but I wanted it a bit darker.
