FoW/TY Teams completed so far in 2017

Tank 102
Infantry 28
Gun 10
Air 1
Special 2
Total 143

So 2016 was fairly productive painting wise. I painted three new forces for FoW: DAK Infantry, Japanese Infantry, and Guards Armoured. These, when added to other round out items I painted for my existing forces, adds up to 39 Tank Teams, 62 Infantry Teams, 8 Gun teams, and 6 Helicopter/Airplane Teams painted in 2016. Not bad for a year's worth of hobby work, but I still have a lot to get through as you can see on the below roster.

My initial focus for 2017? I want to paint up all of my Soviet Team Yankee teams first off. I really want to start getting in games with my own kit. Then focus will shift to my remaining DAK blisters since version 4 will have a Mid-War Desert Focus initially. After those...we'll see!

Pet Shop Comics. All of the sale items noted above were from them. Rick buys all his stock with cash, so when things have sat on the shelf for too long or he needs cash he'll have big sales like those above. The 75% off on Team Yankee was his biggest. I think he may have been trying to just get more folks (likes us 6mm guys) interested in 15mm. Guess it works as I bought in big.

First units for 2017 completed:

British Mid-War/Italy Mortar Platoon. I thought with new smoke restrictions in Version 4, I better go ahead and get this unit done as another smoke thrower.

British LW Assault Pioneers. This was made up from spare figures from the LW Guards Rifle I painted in 2016 plus some other extra figs I had to make this small unit. I would normally do a unit like this, but there is a Market Garden Scenario that I'd like to do one day that needs them.

So my next major effort is underway. I'm going to go full court press on finishing my ALL of Team Yankee Soviets. The only problem is I'm still adding more as I go. I ordered more BMPs and AAA assets.

So right now I'm simultaneously working on:

20 x T-72s
15 x BMPs
Infantry Teams for a full Motorized Rifle Company
4 x ZSU-23-4's
4 x SA-13's
2 x Hind-D's
2 x SU-25s

I'll be adding more BMPs and more infantry as well as apparently a BMP-2 Battalion backed up by tanks is better than a Tank Battalion backed up by BMP-2s. Who knew?

I'm trying to get these done in a "30 day challenge."

I did these T-55s a s attest paint for my Team Yankee Soviets. They are the PAVN T-55s. I painted them "generic Soviet" so I could use them as 3rd echelon Eats Block forces, Cubans in Angola and maybe even ones in a while as PAVN forces like the were supposed to be. Heck, they might even sneak into an Arab-Israeli battle or two!

They are a bit shinny, my Dull-Coat spray ran out. But I'll hit them again when I get a new can.

Picked these up Thursday afternoon, and have them ready to roll on Saturday AM!

I used Vallejo Russian Uniform 924 "wet brushed" for these. Still can't find that TY Soviet Green spray match, but this is pretty close.

I think I may "dirty up" my modern Soviets. I normally like the clean "Toy Soldier" look, but might be time to branch out a little.

Thanks Tommy!

Up next....

Back in the days when you could get the "Axis & Allies" miniatures cheap I was able to get a good bunch of them. Of these the PzKw-III with short 50mm guns were especially easy and cheap to find. So with Version 4 MW reboot about to hit, I jumped on painting these up as quick as I could.

They are not the best models and I only spent about a week working on them, but I think they will do nicely enough to let me game on with a DAK Panzer Force while I put more time and effort into a new 8th Army British force.

These were a nice break from my TY Soviet horde anyway!

Not sure if anyone else has said this yet...

I'm impressed that you've actually got a spreadsheet of models going.

Thanks! My hope was it would inspire me to get old kits done and on the table while helping to moderate my future purchases and then building up more than a backlog!

It helps with the prior, but I still find that I am buying way too much. At least my wife can't nag me about not even knowing how many models I have waiting to be worked on before I buy more! :o
