So so good, I have started to refresh my FFL now to make them look more like these. It is also great to have another player seeing the benefits of a French force ;)

Excellent article.

I've more or less finished my French force for Africa as well. One of the things that attracted me to the army was the dual ability to play either Axis or Allies. Nice thing to be able to do if I ever go to a tournament.

I recognize most of the miniatures used (since I have them) as well as Bob's amazing Armored Car. My only question, are those Artizan FFL? If not, where did you get them. They look excellent. I have a small squad of FFL through Askari Miniatures but I like the look of your figs a slight bit more.

Keep up the good work,

David

Hey David,

Bryan has used the Artizan range of FFL, I have the same and they are sensational miniatures. I have on order some of the range by Gorgan Studios and will hopefully do a review once I have them.

Thanks for the info Patch.

As an FYI, the Gorgon FFL are fantastic. A tad taller and thinner than Warlords but not noticeably unless your looking for it. Hoping for a Light Machinegun in the near future.

Now I just need to see how Bryan plans to make those Boys.

These are indeed Artizan Designs Foreign Legion! They are really great miniatures, a pleasure to paint up.

I'll be doing a full guide to the miniatures used for the army hopefully this week. I had to gather it all from a few places so I hope it'll help anyone interested in a similar project.

Speaking of which, have you got any pics of your French Colonial army you can share Dave? Would be great to see. Also, what sort of units have you been running in the games with it? any list ideas?

Unfortunately the Gorgon FFL in Norway campaign uniforms won't fit with this project but they could spark off a future one!

I've been overly remiss for taking pics. I should rectify some day.

Currently I've got painted:
48 Senegalese (Woodbine)
14 Regular French (Warlord)
Mortar (Warlord)
Medium Machine Gun (Woodbine)
12 Goumiers (Artizan)
8 FFL (Askari)
6 FFL Cav (Askari)
AMD 80 (Mad Bob)
2 S20TL (Thanks Bob)
Far too many howitzers (Thanks again Bob!)
FT 17 (Evil Monkey)

I have more coming from Bob and just received my order of R35s from JTFM ($15 a pop is outstanding!)

Tactics? I've only gotten to play a few times so I just pick and choose and have fun. We are not competitive at all around here.

Any case, your article has me wanting to do the final expansion by adding a larger FFL contingent to the force with the inclusion of Bob's soon to be releases (oh I hope so) VUDBs.

As to the Gorgon figs. Bob mentioned they would make excellent inclusions as Group Franc Phoney War troops. Being allowed to run three armored cars with Vet troops would be most interesting to say the least...

Looking forward to seeing what you do with your figs. As I said, any tutorial on an anti tank rifle would be much appreciated.

David

Looks as if I'm going to be making another order.

Thanks for the conversion tips. Would have never thought about using Belgiums  Who would have thunk?
