How is everyone basing their BA stuff? I'm thinking 25mm bases are most appropriate, but I think I might go with the 30mm rounded lip bases because they look awesome.

Hi,
its 2p coin or 25mm steel washer for me. Like the extra weight the base gives with the plastics.

60 or 90mm rounds for the bigger stuff.

In this game, gun teams lose crew as casualties, so if you decide to base your mgs etc on the big bases, you'll need to mark casualties somehow, or model the gun in such a way that casualties can be removed. No big deal, just letting people know if they decide to model before they read the rules.

Hi,
I've done some mortars before where you have one crew member permanently on the base but you base the rest on the usual 25mm bases so they can be removed.

Personally I put them all on the base permanently and use markers to show casualties, what is weird is the numbers for the crew are not always what you get in a Bolt Action blister (I had to fix my stands after getting ahold of the rules).

Example: The mortar comes with three models, but in BA rules it only has two. The LMG only comes with two models, but needs three per BA rules. The HMG only has three models, but needs four per the rules. (These are all for US armies.) The plastics, however, are so well done you can easily make crew members from them (which is what I've done where I've needed models.)

Is there a good producer of 70-90mm round bases for arty pieces/mortars and such that is not too expensive? I am using renedra bases for just about everything infantry as they are cheap ($4 US for 50, can't really beat that) and are what comes in the box for the plastics sets.

I would like to keep a consistent thickness, 1.5 mm or so, but its nor really that key a point, anything similar is great.

I'll post pics soon, but I'm using a bag of mixed round discs made of wood that I bought at Michael's craft store. It was 4 bucks per bag and had about 6 bases (three of each).

Gazza,

Was that Mortar crew sitting on a 60 mm base ... and the removable crew on 25 or 30 mm bases ?

Hi,
it was a 60mm round base for the mortar team and 25mm for the loader.

Hope this helps

Hi, when I compiled and constructed my Easy Company, yes directly after watching Band of Brothers (an entire company in 28mm) I just used UK pennies, ready supply, perfectly sized and so cheap, you get 100 metal bases for a £1, BARGAIN, just don't tell the Queen I'd probably get arrested for defacing the coin of the realm lol
