Find some BMPs to get recon to complete those last 2 points.

Yeah, was planning on it - but wanted to wait until I vetted the overall list a little better... :D

Definitely wants recon!

I've got to figure out what I'll run at the TY Nationals. I might look a lot like this...mostly because its about a match for my collection! ;)

I'm a bit worried about the unit breaking when the T-72s are gone...but I figure win fast or lose fast at the TY nationals anyway!:)

I hear you - I have the same concern, but there are some other viable AT assets in the list - including those sneaky Spandrels (Cocker Spandrels? ;) ).

Sort of how I envision this working is the T72 is the main assault force, the T55 can flank as can the Mot-Schützen Kompanie. The T55 can't handle any modern armor head on, but do you tackle the T72 coming at you and ignore the T55 flanking or vice versa?

That is the way to run these. But what is the plan if you have 1/2 in reserves.

Would sort of depend on what I'm up against.

The "Big 4" platoons in this force are the 2X T72, the T55, and the Mot-Schützen Kompanie - between the four of them I think there should be enough mix and match to keep a reasonable combination of armor and/or infantry on the table... Generally I think at least one of the T72 platoons would be off table which could be advantageous depending on the mission... any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome, though!

True as that is, unless you get another platoon for 2 points, you only have 7 platoons. So you have 3 on the table. Also, seeing how they are probably minefields, you may want to dress up your tank platoons with mine clearing devices.

Definitely seems like it's the most 'efficient' way to field a DDR force. I like it.

I'd include a recon option, like the little armored cars and maybe save a point for mine plows on a company.

Yeah, I'm going to punch it out with a recon platoon... Haven't decided whether I'm going BMP or armored car yet... that will give me an even eight which should work reasonably well... on paper at least! :D

Solves that problem for reserves.

Next problem, mines, you may want to find a point or 3 to equip at least one platoon/company of tanks, mine clearing rakes.

Yeah... only way i could do that easily would be to pare back one of the T-72 or drop the heavy weapons from the infantry...

Spandrel Panzerabwehr Zug 3x Spandrel (2pts)
SA-13 Gopher Flak Zug 4x SA-13 Gopher (4pts)
2S1 Carnation Artillerie Batterie 6x 251 Carnation (10pts)
BRDM-2 Aufklarungs Zug 2x BRDM-2 (1pts)

Formation 2
T-72M Panzer Bataillon HQ 1x T-72M (3pts)

T-72M Panzer Kompanie 6x T-72M (19pts)

I'm still getting used to the multi-formation paradigm. What advantages does a 2 formation force get you at this point?

For the DDR, you have to have an Mech formation to get BMP-2s. But if I had only a single Mech Formation, then my tanks slot choices would have been much lower.

Honestly I don't have much experience with TY or multiple formations so still experimenting.
