I have the pdf of the Colors of War conversion chart (v1). Is there an updated version?

The Team Yankee Soviet Green TYP291 is not on that chart. What is the equivalent for vallejo colors?

I "think" its just like Russian Uniform. I ordered the Team Yankee Soviet paint set and it should be at my LGS right now. I may be able to get some and test it out. If so I'll paint some swatches and post here.

OK...my LGS was not able to get me in the Team Yankee Soviet Green Spray or the Team Yankee Soviet Paint set. Turns out both are sold out with no expected resupply any time soon. Checked a bunch of web stores too. I guess I was lucky to get the can of TY Soviet Green Spray.

So the best I cab do for tonight is provide the below BMP hull samples.

Left: Team Yankee Soviet Green Spray TYP291, the T-72 also got the TY Soviet Green Spray.
Middle: Vallejo Russian Uniform 924
Right: Plastic Soldier Company Russian Uniform Spray

I think the Vallejo Russian Uniform is really close to the TY Soviet Green Spray...especially once you've washed and highlighted them. The PSC Russian Uniform Spray is too light.

Sorry but I no TY Soviet Green brush paint to make a comparison with.

Hope it helps!

I picked up the BF Firefly Green Spray 230 hoping it would match Team Yankee Soviet Green Spray TYP291. It does not. :(

The image below has the Soviet Green spray on the left and the Firefly Green spray on the right. Good thing I have extra BMP hulls to test things out on! ;)

I was hoping the two sprays would match but the Soviet Green seems to have more a Khaki to it.

I also found this post that was pretty helpful. My experience with the Bush on Firefly Green is that is really close to the Spray on Soviet Green. Unfortunately I have not been able to get a hold of brush on Soviet Green to test it.

Tom, do you have an airbrush? If so, try the MIG AMMO line for modern Soviets. The colors are post WW2 and up to the 80's. Perfect color.

I prime white or Vallejo Soviet Green, then air brush with the 80's era green. I like the results.

Yes. I have an airbrush. But I'm lazy to be messing with it when I can find good sprays. Problem I started with the Team Yankee Soviet Green, but one can was not enough and I can't find good matches.

Thanks. I really do need to up my game with MIG though. Especially weathering and dirt effects.

Based on your earlier post, let me ask. Does 924 Vallejo Russian Uniform match firefly green?

I assume they should match, but do they?

The best way I can answer that is show them all.

From Left to Right; TY Soviet Green Spray, Vallejo Russian Uniform (924) wet brushed on, PSC Russian Uniform Spray, BF Firefly Green Spray.

To me the TY Soviet Green Spray and brush on Vallejo Russian Uniform (924) are a close match.

The PSC Russian Uniform Spray and the Firefly Green are also very close to each other, but not very close to the above to. Honestly I don't like the BF Firefly Green spray so much for my Soviets and will give that can away to a local aspiring British Armor player.

Tom

Thanks. So tomorrow I'm suppose to be getting a Team Yankee Soviet Paint set. So hopefully, I'll be adding the brush on version of the TY Soviet Green paint soon.

OK. Finally got ahold of TY Soviet Green paint in the "Bullet Bottle."

In the below from left to right we have: TY Soviet Green Spray, TY Soviet Green Bottle, Vallejo Russian Uniform 924, BF Firefly Green Spray and PSC Russian Uniform Spray.

To be the Vallejo 924 Russian Uniform and TY Soviet Green Bullet Bottle match very well. I found the TY Soviet Green Bullet Bottle to not spread nearly as well as the Vallejo 924 Russian Green. It took two coats to get the coverage you see here, where as with Vallejo one pass covers nice and even.

They all look green to me. ;)

Seriously, with weathering, scale effect and differing interior lighting, any of those ought to work. In addition, in real-life between different paint suppliers, weather fading,
and environmental effects, all sorts of color variations were in evidence even among the same unit, I'm sure.
