I'm doing West Germans & the Nato three-tone scheme is putting me off, so I've painted some tanks olive drab. Probably the wrong olive drab as its the Vallejo US OD primer. My query is this, can I paint Leopard 2's olive drab? If I can then I've potentially got a method of indicating formations with the three-tone being one formation & OD being the other.

Yes you can basically do any vehicle olive drab.

I ended up with basically 2 formations split by OD & camo.

In my mind, the OD would be the older vehicles, so I prime in brown then dry brush the OD (Vallejo brown-violet). I have found that if you dry brush the basecoat over brown, you get a very old/worn looking vehicle.

Sorry, I can not do pics. I am still stuck in 90s technology due to no phone camera.

There is a link pinned to the top of the Team Yankee forum here on WWPD with colour conversions for the TY paints to Vallejo Paints

I don't see a specific "olive drab" conversion, but if you click through the link at the top of that post to the original post on OrdoFanaticus they've got a decent set of links to various conversions

This is not entirely what you're looking for, but a while ago I did some research and conversions for MERDC and NATO in Vallejo colors.
Quote:
According to my extensive nerdy research, US vehicles pre-1985 were painted in MERDC. The most common MERDC scheme in Europe was Winter Verdant, although there are some folks who claim that Summer Verdant was also used. Just for variety, I did my objective in Summer Verdant. The American Vehicles in the book are Winter Verdant.

That said, M1s were newly-delivered, and almost all of them were either Olive Drab or Forest Green. There is no photographic evidence I can find of them in MERDC in Europe.

1985 is the year that US units started switching to NATO 3-color, so softskins, tracks and utility vehicles could be MERDC or NATO. M1s could conceivably be in NATO as well.

So, for the colors:

Winter Verdant:
Forest Green FS 34079 US Dark Green 893 or Gunship Green 895
Field Drab FS 30118 US Field Drab 873 or English Uniform 921 (too dark for my taste)
Sand FS 30277 Lots of Possibilities here. Green Brown 879, Dark Yellow 978, German Camo Beige 821(My preference), or even Khaki 988
Black FS 37038 Black 950 or Black Grey 862 (my pref)

Summer Verdant:
Replace Field Drab with Light Green FS 34151 German Camo Bright Green 833

Olive Drab:
FS 34087 Brown Violet 887

But wait, there's more!

For NATO 3-color, on US Vehicles:

NATO Green FS 34094 Military Green 975
NATO Brown FS 30051 Chocolate Brown 871
NATO Black FS 37030 no exact Vallejo equivalent, but it's a lighter gray than Black Gray. I'm going to try 4:1 Black Gray to White mix.

Here's a great guide with alternatives for scale fade:
